Applied agricultural research in the Cariboo

These resources provide an overview of the process to create an agricultural research organization for the Cariboo region.

The 2017 project report and summary describe the context for developing a regional research organization and the proposed model for the organization.

The 2018 project report outlines initial knowledge transfer activities, including a regional agricultural research database. It includes supporting materials developed for the launch of the Cariboo Agricultural Research Alliance (CARA).

The 2019 project report provides detailed information about how a strategic applied research plan was developed, including:

  • An engagement summary
  • Description and outcomes of focus group sessions
  • Recommendations for next steps
  • Copies of secondary project outputs, such as advisory committee terms of reference

The 2019 strategic plan identifies the top priorities for local research by using a ranking matrix and a transferable process that can be applied by groups in other regions. It also includes two collaboratively developed project proposals that reflect the top research priorities, one focusing on pasture rejuvenation and the other on greenhouse innovations.
